2.1.9. Instrumental Analysis
Infrared Analysis (FT- IR)
IR spectrophotometery is a principal instrument for identification and characterization of chemical
materials, especially polymeric materials [24] . One of the important characteristic of IR
spectrophotometery is the study of molecular structure or functional groups that can be determined
based on the vibrational motions of atoms within the molecule after interaction with electro
magnetic radiation [18] , which is called the absorption spectrum of the materials. Infrared
spectroscopy is a simple and rapid instrumental technique which is normally used for the
identification of raw materials, intermediates and final products in analytical and quality control
laboratories.
In the present study, the infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis was investigated to confirm the
various functional groups and chemical structures of unmodified, EDTAD-modified proteins, as
well as EDTAD-AP and IZP hydrogel.
