1.4. Zygomycetes<br />

History of Zygomycetes<br />

Earlier the zygomycetes named phycomycetes (alga fungous), which is considered as a primal<br />

group of fungi in water since about a billion years ago [13] . Phylogeny studies of zygomycetes<br />

DNA have shown that this microorganism more similar to animal than to bacteria or microscopic<br />

plants.The zygomycetes as a source of protein and vitamin have been extensively used for food<br />

preparation mainly in South East Asia. Also zygomycetes protein is using as a fish feed [13] .<br />
