message or blanking time for each<br />

message shall be individually<br />

programmable. The message display<br />

units shall incorporate an automatic<br />

blanking feature that will cause the<br />

display area to blank within 30<br />

seconds of the bus master power<br />

switch being turned off.<br />

An emergency message shall be<br />

initiated by the closure, or opening,<br />

of a dry contact switch or relay. The<br />

emergency message shall be<br />

displayed on the exterior of the bus<br />

only. The OCP shall not display the<br />

emergency message. The<br />

destination sign shall automatically<br />

resume normal operation when the<br />

remote emergency switch is returned<br />

to its normal position.<br />

Destination Sign Programming: The<br />

electronic sign system shall be<br />

programmable via an integral<br />

connector located in the front<br />

destination sign area. Software shall<br />

be furnished for programming the<br />

sign system via an IBM-<strong>com</strong>patible,<br />

laptop <strong>com</strong>puter. Software shall be<br />

capable of providing a high degree<br />

of flexibility to create, or select<br />

preprogrammed, fonts and graphic<br />

displays. The sign shall have the<br />

capability of being programmed in<br />

the field using a PC or field<br />

programmer. Message program<br />

information shall be transferable to<br />

and/or from the field programmer<br />

device as specified by the Procuring<br />

Agency in attachments to Part 5:<br />

Technical Specifications.<br />

into the download slot of each<br />

electronic sign. The updated database<br />

is transferred from this Master<br />

Memory Card (MMC) into the internal<br />

FLASH Memory of the sigh system.<br />

The MMC shall be capable of being<br />

programmed via an IBM-<strong>com</strong>patible,<br />

laptop <strong>com</strong>puter. Software shall be<br />

provided and shall be capable of<br />

providing a high degree of flexibility<br />

to create, or select preprogrammed<br />

fonts and graphic displays.<br />

The bus “Master Run” switch shall control power to the sign system. The sign system shall be<br />

operable in all switch positions except "Off".<br />
