5.4.5.3.2 Materials and Construction<br />
Structure of the doors, their attachments, inside and outside trim panels, and any mechanism exposed to<br />
the elements shall be corrosion-resistant. Door panel construction shall be of corrosion-resistant metal or<br />
reinforced fiberglass. The doors, when fully opened, shall provide a firm support and shall not be<br />
damaged if used as an assist by passengers during ingress or egress. The front leaves of the passenger<br />
doors shall overlap the rear leaves.<br />
5.4.5.3.3 Dimensions<br />
Baseline: Use with standard 30-inch doorway<br />
opening width.<br />
Each door opening width shall be no less than<br />
30 inches with the doors fully opened.<br />
Alternative: Use for doorway opening width<br />
greater than 30 inches. Also see Sections<br />
5.1.5.3 and 5.4.5.1.1<br />
The front door opening width shall be no less<br />
than (procuring agency insert figure) inches<br />
with the doors fully opened.<br />
The rear door opening width shall be no less<br />
than<br />
(procuring agency insert figure) inches with<br />
the doors fully opened.<br />
Note:<br />
Either or both doorway may be specified to<br />
have a width greater than 30 inches. The<br />
Procuring Agency should note that increased<br />
doorway width may result in a reduction of<br />
seating capacity.<br />
