<strong>Standard</strong> <strong>Bus</strong> <strong>Procurement</strong> <strong>Guidelines</strong><br />

4.1 BASIC PROVISIONS<br />

4.1.1 WARRANTY REQUIREMENTS<br />

4.1.1.1 CONTRACTOR WARRANTY<br />

Warranties in this document are in addition to any statutory remedies or warranties imposed on the<br />

Contractor. Consistent with this requirement, the Contractor warrants and guarantees to the original<br />

Procuring Agency each <strong>com</strong>plete bus, and specific subsystems and <strong>com</strong>ponents as follows.<br />

4.1.1.2 COMPLETE BUS<br />

The <strong>com</strong>plete bus, propulsion system, <strong>com</strong>ponents, major subsystems, and body and chassis<br />

structure, are warranted to be free from Defects and Related Defects for one year or 50,000 miles,<br />

whichever <strong>com</strong>es first, beginning on the date of acceptance, or conditional acceptance of each bus<br />

under "Acceptance of <strong>Bus</strong>" (2.3.1.5). The warranty is based on regular operation of the bus under the<br />

operating conditions prevailing in the Procuring Agency's locale.<br />

4.1.1.3 BODY AND CHASSIS STRUCTURE<br />

Body, body structure, and structural elements of the suspension are warranted to be free from<br />

Defects, Related Defects, and to maintain structural integrity for three years or 150,000 miles,<br />

whichever <strong>com</strong>es first.<br />

Primary load carrying members of the bus structure, including structural elements of the suspension,<br />

are warranted against corrosion failure and/or fatigue failure sufficient to cause a Class 1 or Class 2<br />

failure for a period of 12 (twelve) years or 500,000 miles, whichever <strong>com</strong>es first.<br />

4.1.1.4 PROPULSION SYSTEM<br />

Propulsion system <strong>com</strong>ponents, specifically the engine, transmission and drive and non-drive axles<br />

shall be warranted to be free from Defects and Related Defects for five years or 300,000 miles,<br />

whichever <strong>com</strong>es first. Propulsion system manufacturer's standard warranty, delineating items<br />

excluded from this warranty, submitted in accordance with "Offeror Communications and Requests"<br />

(Section 1.1.2.2 of Procuring Agency's solicitation), is attached.<br />

4.1.1.5 MAJOR SUBSYSTEMS<br />

Major subsystems shall be warranted to be free from Defects and Related Defects, for three years or<br />

150,000 miles, whichever <strong>com</strong>es first. Major subsystem manufacturers standard warranty,<br />

delineating items excluded from this warranty, submitted in accordance "Offeror Communications<br />

and Requests" (Section 1.1.2.2 of Procuring Agency's solicitation), is attached. Items included as<br />

Major Subsystems are listed below:<br />
