5.0 FINDINGS<br />

This section presents the findings resulting from the analysis <strong>of</strong> the standards and<br />

specifications contained in this report effort. The five<br />

standards and specifications<br />

illustrated<br />

in Figure 5-1 were reviewed and analyzed in accordance with the<br />

methodology and the techn ical criteria presented in Sections 2.0 and 3.0. Moreover, five<br />

additional criteria, as illustrated in Exhibits 5-1 and 5-2, were used to evaluate these<br />

standards and specifications in terms<br />

<strong>of</strong> their general usability and relevance to the<br />

UTFS effort. Both the exhibits provide a qualitative measure <strong>of</strong> the analysis<br />

results.<br />

Each <strong>of</strong> the sponsoring organizations for the respective standard or specification was<br />

contacted to discuss the process for obtaining permission to use the documentation.<br />

The results <strong>of</strong> those conversations were factored into the findings in this section.<br />

The following categories have been established as measuring criteria:<br />

Technical Compliance is measured in terms <strong>of</strong> how the standard or specification<br />

<strong>com</strong>plies with the detailed analysis criteria in Section 4.0. The following criteria has<br />

been established and measured in quantities relative to other<br />

standards/specifications analyzed:<br />

o Definition <strong>of</strong> message structure<br />

o Number <strong>of</strong> message types matching with that <strong>of</strong> WG 4<br />

Approximately >90% match – Very Favorable<br />

Approximately 75% match – Favorable<br />

Approximately 50% match – Somewhat favorable<br />
