econcile between the Central Clearinghouse (CCH), acquirer, and the transit operator
systems. This date stamp is applied when the transaction is received by the TCS and
used for re conciliation. This allows for more direct reconciliation between
the TCS and
the CCH/I ssuer than would be possible
with the business date.
The settlement date is added
to the transaction at the CCH. It is the current
operating
date on the CCH system. This is the date used to perform daily CCH financial
operations related to distribution of funds.
4.8 ERG APTA SPECIFICATIONS
4.8.1 Description of the Specification
ERG APTA Sepcifications consist of 3 documents which are based on the evolution of
the TransLink rk in Hong Kong, Rome, Las Vegas
and Singa
device central
® specification and ERG’s similar wo
pore. These documents provide information
on message specifications from
level to regional system.
The first document, APTA-001 , “Device to Higher Level Computer Data Elements/Messaging
Specifications”, provides the APTA WG4 equivalent transaction definitions. The second
document, APTA-002 “APTA Base Types Recommendation”,
defines data types for the
message content and compliments
the APTA-001. The third document, APTA-003
APTA T ransaction and CD Security,
defines the requirement for the "security"
mechanisms to be implemente d in the message exchange between the devices and the
backend systems.
The ERG Business Model is based on the principle that there exists a contract between
system s participants and the regional scheme manager. The contact represents a
registration to the scheme and regulates rights, business rules and obligations of the
respective participants. The transit operators, as participants, accept fare payment from
valid cards of the scheme at face value and clear
and settle the transaction data through
the regional central
clearinghouse.
4.8.2 Applicability to UTFS
Effort
ERG APTA specifications have been based on ERG’s implementations of smart card
based fare collection systems around the world. The specifications provide a wide
variety of data elements designed to encompass the most fare product types offered
in
the transit industry. Though th e documents do not support the “System and Device
