Amazonian guest houses<br />
If you’re p<strong>la</strong>nning a short trip, the following accommodation structures are an i<strong>de</strong>al way to immerse<br />
yourself for 2 to 3 days in the natural environment. These structures for tourists offer accommodation in<br />
a carbet with a hammock or bed to sleep in. They are equipped with toilets and showers. Accessible by river,<br />
they are situated in a natural environment and propose discovery activities. You will be completely looked<br />
after (gui<strong>de</strong>s, pirogue drivers, on-site staff) and activities, food and drink are inclu<strong>de</strong>d in the package.<br />
Saut Athanase<br />
Type: a group of carbets offering sleeping facilities<br />
in a hammock or bed.<br />
Access: 1 1/2 hour by pirogue upstream of Régina,<br />
on the Approuague river.<br />
Site interests: swimming in the river, fishing,<br />
canoeing, forest treks to amazing falls.<br />
Difficulty: none.<br />
Amazonian guest house:<br />
Tolenga Lodge<br />
Type: a group of traditional carbets with waï leaf roofs,<br />
including indivi<strong>du</strong>al carbets and a collective one.<br />
Access: 50 min flight to Maripasou<strong>la</strong>, then 45 min<br />
by pirogue upstream of Maripasou<strong>la</strong> on the Inini<br />
river (tributary of the Maroni).<br />
Site interests: perched on a small hill and on a<br />
2-hectare cleared site, it dominates the river and<br />
offers an incredible view of the nearby forest.<br />
Difficulty: none.<br />
Amazonian guest house: le Cisame<br />
Type: a group of Amerindian carbets offering sleeping facilities in a<br />
hammock or bed. Access: 2 hours by pirogue upstream of Régina,<br />
on the Approuague river.<br />
Site interests: initiation into forest life, trekking, bivouacking,<br />
<strong>de</strong>scending creeks, swimming in the river, canoeing, initiation into<br />
gold washing. Travel upstream to the Grand Machicou falls or<br />
Canori falls upstream of the lodge.<br />

Ilet Sophia<br />
Type: a traditional carbet with 8 rooms, and 2 other<br />
carbets offering sleeping facilities in a hammock.<br />
Access: 20 min flight to Saint-Georges <strong>de</strong><br />
l’Oyapock, then 1/2 hour by pirogue on the<br />
Oyapock towards Saut Maripa.<br />
Site interests: multiple activities to discover the<br />
surrounding forest and the Brazilian vil<strong>la</strong>ges just<br />
opposite.<br />
Saut Sonnelle sur l’Inini<br />
Type: a group of Amerindian carbets offering<br />
sleeping facilities in a hammock.<br />
Access: 50 min flight to Maripasou<strong>la</strong>, then 1/2 hour<br />
by pirogue upstream of Maripasou<strong>la</strong> on the Inini<br />
(tributary of the Maroni).<br />
Site interests: a taste of Amazonian adventure in<br />
comfortable and safe conditions, in an authentic<br />
setting. The site is perfect for resting and meditating.<br />
