Colonel William Johnston, C.B., heir-presumptive to <strong>the</strong> Baronetcy, recorded<br />

<strong>the</strong> same Arms in 1903, <strong>with</strong> <strong>the</strong> addition <strong>of</strong> a gold bordure round<br />

<strong>the</strong> Arms.<br />

Major James Johnston, said to be descended from Caskieben, recorded<br />

Arms in 1764 Silver, a black saltire, in chief and base stags' heads proper, and<br />

in <strong>the</strong> flanks blue cross crosslets fitchy.<br />

Johnston <strong>of</strong> Blackwood. Nisbet's Heraldry gives Silver, a saltire<br />

and chief black, <strong>the</strong> latter cliarged <strong>with</strong> three gold cushions.<br />

JOHNSTON OF Carnsalloch uses same Arms as Westerhall.<br />

JOHNSTON OF CLAUCHRIE recorded Arms 1672-77 Silver, a saltire invecked<br />

black <strong>with</strong> a pellet (black disc) in each flank; on a red chief three gold<br />
