The journal entry screen ( Fig. 2) enables the student to create a journal entry which can <strong>in</strong>clude imported<br />

graphics and l<strong>in</strong>ks to URLs. The student can also view notes appended by the teacher and other students to the<br />

journal entry. The journal editor is designed to support and promote reflection; reflection is a key attribute of<br />

the journal writ<strong>in</strong>g activity. The reflection button takes evokes suggestions and mechanisms for review<strong>in</strong>g your<br />

entry and th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g “deeper” about its mean<strong>in</strong>g and significance. The editor allows the student teacher to<br />

import and acquire “live” media elements. The editor also support work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> a networked environment for<br />

submitt<strong>in</strong>g entries to the server or work<strong>in</strong>g off-net with the capability of sav<strong>in</strong>g work to a hard drive for<br />

send<strong>in</strong>g to the server when a connection can be made. The entry form allows the student to identify keywords<br />

to support search strategies and to set access rights to be public, private or to select groups.
