The Duplicate plug-in always works in non-destructive
mode—you cannot choose to overwrite
files. The original source files will always
be retained.
Mod Delay
The Mod Delay plug-in provides time delaybased
effects. Effects you can create with these
plug-ins include slap echo, doubling, chorusing,
and flanging.
The features of these plug-ins are identical to
their real-time counterparts. The only difference
is that the AudioSuite versions operate in nonreal
time.
There are four different Mod Delays, each of
which is capable of a different maximum delay
time:
• The Short Delay provides 1024 samples of delay
(23.2 milliseconds at 44.1 kHz or 21.3 ms
at 48 kHz).
• The Slap Delay provides 7186 samples of delay
(162 ms at 44.1 kHz or 149 ms at 48 kHz).
• The Medium Delay provides 16384 samples of
delay (371 ms at 44.1 kHz kHz or 341 ms at
48 kHz).
• The Long Delay provides 162474 samples of
delay (3.68 seconds at 44.1 kHz or 3.38 seconds
at 48 kHz).
For information on the individual parameters
of these plug-ins, see “Mod Delay” on
page 34.
Normalize
The Normalize plug-in allows you to optimizing
a selected region’s playback level. It is useful in
cases where an audio file has been recorded with
too little amplitude, or where volume is inconsistent
throughout the duration of an audio file
(as in a poorly recorded narration). Applying
Normalization to a selection raises its overall
volume level while ensuring that the inherent
dynamics of the material remain unchanged.
The Max Peak At Parameter
In addition to the standard AudioSuite functions,
the Normalize plug-in provides a Max
Peak At parameter which lets you specify how
close to maximum level (clipping threshold) the
peak level of your selection will be boosted.
You can specify this value by manually adjusting
the Max Peak At slider, or by entering a numeric
decibel value below the clipping threshold,
or by entering a percentage of the clipping
threshold.
The Normalize plug-in allows stereo pairs to be
processed together so that the two sides of the
stereo signal are processed relative to each other.
When multiple regions are selected across multiple
tracks, the Normalize plug-in can search
for peaks in two different modes:
