Persimmon
Persimmon plants are trained to form a low head. They are headed back at a height
of 60-70 cm from the ground at the time of planting to
develop a framework of strong branches. In general, cultivars
differ markedly in vigour and growth habit. Some cultivars are
dwarf and highly precocious, whereas others are vigorous,
upright and late maturing. The dwarf and semi dwarf cultivars
are trained to a modified central leader system.

More vigorous, upright, narrow crotch angle types are
trained to a vase or palmette system. The pruning is done
during winter season when trees are dormant, especially
in January.
Pecan nut
Pecan nut plants are generally trained in central leader system.
The lowest branch is kept at a height of 1m from the ground
level, while subsequent branches are spaced spirally at a distance of

framework is established, very little pruning
is done in mature trees. Since pecan nut
is a terminal bearer, it requires only light to
moderate pruning. Heavy pruning results in
extremely vigorous growth with no production,
so only dried and broken branches are removed
and overcrowded branches are thinned.
