PH invited JF to the committee as Secretary.<br />

Matters arising TW informed the group that Angus Stevenson<br />
had resigned as Secretary for the East<br />
Midl<strong>and</strong>s. Chris Rolle has now taken on this<br />
position.<br />
Inter County<br />
<strong>Masters</strong> 2008<br />
To be held on 23 rd November, 2pm warm up for<br />
2.30pm start. 8 Counties are taking part,<br />
Shropshire declined.<br />
Gwyneth has organised officials, Counties will<br />
bring 1 timekeeper <strong>and</strong> 1 judge with them. PH is<br />
to chair the jury of appeal.<br />
Chris Rolle has an East Midl<strong>and</strong>s meeting at the<br />
leisure centre on the day so they will check<br />
everything is in place. Phil Matthews is to do the<br />
electronic timekeeping.

Midl<strong>and</strong> <strong>Masters</strong><br />
Championships<br />
2009<br />
<strong>Masters</strong> Planning<br />
Day<br />
PH mentioned guests. The asa have invited<br />
County Presidents. TW to speak to Mrs Beswick<br />
about inviting Regional presidents.<br />
To be held April 24 th – 26 th 2009 at Leamington.<br />
Has been agreed with East Midl<strong>and</strong>s.<br />
Gwyneth will look after the front of house <strong>and</strong> is<br />
organising officials, letters have been sent. Matt<br />
will work the computer <strong>and</strong> the operator of the<br />
electronic timekeeping is from Hull. TW to check<br />
the name. TW asked PH to do the medals <strong>and</strong><br />
PH agreed. East Midl<strong>and</strong>s are organising the<br />
warm ups.<br />
TW is liasing with the pool. TW <strong>and</strong> JF will catch<br />
up with Chris Rolle <strong>and</strong> East Midl<strong>and</strong>s at the asa<br />
Championships.<br />
Conditions for the meet <strong>and</strong> entry forms have<br />
been added to the website. TW will receive entry<br />
forms <strong>and</strong> process them. JF to get copies of<br />
entry forms to take to asa Championships.<br />
JF <strong>and</strong> TW to speak to East Midl<strong>and</strong>s at next<br />
meeting about inviting Nuala Muir Cochrane<br />
Was due to be held on Saturday 4 th October but<br />
had to be postponed due to low numbers.<br />
JF to liase with Nuala Muir Cochrane <strong>and</strong> Lesley<br />
Hill to arrange a new date in the New Year. Will<br />
aim for January.<br />
The session will look at the development of<br />
<strong>Masters</strong> swimming <strong>and</strong> future priorities in the<br />
West Midl<strong>and</strong>s.<br />
National Issues A number of issues were reported on by Andy<br />

• Club timekeepers course at the GB<br />
<strong>Masters</strong><br />
• Changes to the asa Championships,<br />
repeating the social event on the<br />
Saturday <strong>and</strong> the re-entry for 400m<br />
events.<br />
• Simplifying the permission to swim<br />
abroad form<br />
• Cherriman Award – awarded to Jenny<br />

PH commented that free swimming for the 60+<br />
age group is an opportunity to sell <strong>Masters</strong><br />
swimming. PH asked AW to put free swimming<br />
on the agenda for the next meeting.<br />
