Value for honey: profuse bloom and bees work this "industriously" 35 ; developed<br />
around the turn of the century by a A.W. Wagner from the narrow leaved everlasting<br />
pea, L. sylvestris, to improve the value of the sp. as bee and livestock forage 72 .<br />
Notes: deep rooted and drought resistant; introduced plant; flowers dark red; sp. (not<br />
cv.) found along roadsides and waste places, local Que. to Mich. and beyond Can.<br />
limits 23 .<br />

attractive to honeybees than Phacelia (phacelia) or Melilotus (sweet clover) 35 ; flower<br />
tubes are 4 mm long so that all N is within reach of the honeybee 35 .<br />
Honey: light or straw coloured; good flavour s".<br />
Notes: common weed along roadsides; roots are very tenacious; sometimes cultivated in<br />
the flower border; naturalized in waste land, Que., W. and S. beyond Can. limits 23 .<br />
