Well this is kind of a long format here; we have a whole hour to<br />

talk about things. And I'm really impressed <strong>with</strong> the clarity of<br />

your teaching, and there's aspects to it that I think are just spot on<br />

for myself and many others, and that's really the main thrust of<br />

what I think we all want to talk about today <strong>with</strong> you. But let's talk<br />

a little bit about you though, and what you've written in your bio<br />

first, because it's kind of a backdrop to some of the other stuff<br />

that'll come up.<br />

MATT KAHN: Sure.<br />

TRIP: One question I had, why don't you go ahead and share your<br />

interesting childhood, it was a very interesting childhood, and I<br />

wouldn't normally necessarily feel the need to ask you that. But<br />

then I've got some follow up questions about that. You want to<br />

share what happened at six and eight?<br />

MATT KAHN: Sure, when I was six… well just to preface this,<br />

when I was a child I found myself very afraid of the world, very<br />

afraid of people, just curious and innocently wanting to explore<br />

the world. I think the energy of the world was so very intense in<br />

my body, because I remember being a child and I'd be on<br />

playgrounds, and I would play in my own imagination. And when<br />

other kids would come on and play in a wild way, I would have to<br />

leave. I spent a long time by myself when I was a kid, and that for<br />

me felt more comfortable.<br />

When I was six, I remember I was walking to a friend's house, and<br />

there is a wall that divides their house from my house. And I<br />

remember just looking at the wall and I had this experience, which<br />

of course I didn't know I was having an experience, because I had<br />

nothing to compare it <strong>with</strong>. I hadn't become well seasoned in my<br />

life. I had this experience of looking at this wall, and just having<br />

this insight that I wasn't the body, I wasn't the wall, I was the<br />

space between it. It didn't strike me as anything, I mean I felt a<br />
