to know what is really real, and that this impermanent person and<br />

body, and so on, will not last, but that it can do something useful<br />

in this lifetime towards total absolute surrender.<br />

WIZARD: Likewise. Yes.<br />

TRIP: I feel like what might happen for a lot of folks, what<br />

happened for me was there was an initial emotion, a huge<br />

emotional feeling about God or being at one <strong>with</strong>… and then the<br />

head, there was a big head period there where the head needed to<br />

get its due, and I needed to unlearn a bunch of stuff. So I went<br />

into a headspace for a while to get rid of a bunch of stuff, and then<br />

now it's again Now, it’s kind of a devotional thing, the love<br />

remains. At the end of your poems, Spun Gold, you finish the<br />

poem <strong>with</strong> the words, well it's not the very last line, but it's, "Total<br />

openness remains". <strong>The</strong> <strong>Wizard</strong> calls it pure capacity.<br />

MAREN SPRINGSTEEN: Lovely.<br />

TRIP: When we're feeling love, is that what we're feeling, totally<br />

open? Is that what love is?<br />

MAREN SPRINGSTEEN: I think so, but I like John's words even<br />

better. Because it is pure potentiality, everything is wide open;<br />

everything is unconditioned, beyond time and space, completely<br />

timeless. And I love what you just said because it was exactly the<br />

same way here, and I find it's true for many, many people. I had to<br />

do the long headway too, to educate myself to make sense of the<br />

experiences I was already having innerly, and find out what they<br />

were about, and if there was anybody who could tell me what it<br />

was about.<br />

I practiced metaphysics for a long time, and then I practiced<br />

nonduality for a long time, and Peter Francis Dziuban has been<br />

elementary, I love his book, Consciousness is All, I have three<br />

copies of it in my bookshelf. Joel Goldsmith, the American mystic<br />

from the last century, I studied <strong>The</strong> Infinite Way for a long, long<br />

time. And really enjoyed all that, and it really, like you say, the<br />
