though, is yes, I embrace it exactly in totality exactly the way that<br />

it is. No exceptions, not one exception.<br />

WIZARD: No models.<br />

CHUCK HILLIG: No models at all. You just say yes to it. See, it’s<br />

only the ego that says no. It’s the ego that superimposes<br />

something on top of it, saying, “No, things should not be this way.<br />

Things should be a different way. Or, I know what should be<br />

happening; I know what should be unfolding.” Well, I’d like to<br />

posit that maybe you don’t. Maybe things should be just the way<br />

that they are.<br />

TRIP: Right, and you say, “Things always work out as soon as you<br />

give up your idea of what working out is supposed to look like.”<br />

CHUCK HILLIG: Yes.<br />

WIZARD: Yes.<br />

CHUCK HILLIG: Yes, exactly and this idea, of what you had<br />

mentioned earlier – this becoming a truly appreciative audience.<br />

It’s easy to appreciate all the beautiful sunsets and the nice music<br />

and the dance and the nice glass of wine; it’s wonderful to<br />

appreciate that. But can you also appreciate the garbage dump?<br />

Can you appreciate the chaos in the world? You turn on the TV,<br />

you read the paper– can you appreciate all of that? Can you thank<br />

all of that for showing up to play in your play? All of these dream<br />

characters are playing in your play and part of who you need to be<br />

is just to acknowledge and to own that and to love them, truly,<br />

truly deeply, powerfully love them being in all of that chaos. Love<br />

them deeply.<br />

WIZARD: Beautifully said.<br />

TRIP: At the core of your teaching – and I think this is true of<br />

anyone who wants to abide in this essence of who they are – is this<br />

comfort ability <strong>with</strong> ambiguity and <strong>with</strong> paradox. I’ve noticed that<br />
