Cluny visits 6 c c The Fromages Tower VISIT AND DISCOVER CLUNY This tower in the abbey walls, previously known as the Fèves Tower, affords an extraordinary panorama over the abbey city. At the top of the tower the visitor can use an augmented reality show to rediscover the great abbey church. The urban power, often in disagreement with that of the abbot, had set up its first town hall in this square. The church is a fine Gothic building, the porch of which spread out onto the square and was destroyed just before the French Revolution. Inside, the architectural homogeneity is quite remarkable and a beautiful light lights up this very stark building that Pidou-Berlu watches over. Saint Marcel’s Church is built on the site of the former Saint Odon chapel, which dated from the end of the 11 th century. The most remarkable part of the church is its Romanesque bell tower: an octagonal tower topped with a long spire built in the 16 th century. The National Stud Farm At the foot of the famous Abbey of Cluny, the National Stud Farm was created in 1806, to meet the needs of Napoleon’s army. Guided tours to discover this place and its occupants. For children, interactive family visit based on a trail of the senses.
