<strong>Cluny</strong> country nestles between several high points, which are themselves limited<br />
to the southwest by the Atlantic-Mediterranean waters dividing line.<br />
Mont Saint-Romain<br />
Access from the village of Blanot, 580m. Magnificient circular panorama with<br />
orientation table.<br />
Signal de la Mère boîtier<br />
Between Tramayes and Pierreclos, highest point of the region (758m). Landscape<br />
opening onto the Bresse and Beaujolais regions and the heights of the Mâconnais.<br />
Mount Saint-Cyr<br />
Located in the village land of Montmelard, Mount<br />
Saint Cyr offers a superb panorama over the<br />
Charolais copses, to the north over the Morvan hills<br />
and to the south-west over the Massif Central.<br />
Natural sites and landscape<br />
Arborétum of Pézanin<br />
Set in beautiful parkland, covering a total area<br />
of 27 hectares, Pézanin has a wealth of some 450<br />
species or varieties of trees from all over the world. In the pond, abundant in carp<br />
and pike, fishing is permit- ted for holders of a day permit. A picnic area is organised<br />
in a huge meadow, with tables, benches and barbecues.<br />

Natura 2000. Natura 2000 is a biodiversity management tool, the aim of which is<br />
not to put nature in a greenhouse but rather to conserve or improve agricultural<br />
and forestry methods that are favourable to the fauna and flora of community<br />
interest.<br />

August. Water activities: pedalo hire; windsurfing<br />
possible. Picnic area, barbecue and snack bar.<br />

The Abbey Park<br />
Created in the mid 14th century, the park has undergone many<br />
changes over the centuries. Today it contains 24 different<br />
deciduous species and 10 evergreen species. Free entry all<br />
year round.<br />
A play area is available for children aged 3 to 6, under<br />
adult supervision. Access to the park isstrictly forbidden to all<br />
motorised vehicles. Dogs must be kept on a lead.<br />
The Simples garden<br />
Overlooking the narthex, the «Simples» garden, of medieval<br />
inspiration, contains around a hundred varieties of plants<br />
with healing properties and aromatic species.<br />
Fishing Holiday permit (30 €): Valid for 15 consecutive<br />
days, during the period from 1st June to 31 December, the<br />
holiday permit allows all kinds of fishing in the 1st category<br />
(1 line max.) and in 2nd category (4 lines max).<br />
Day permit (9.50 €): Valid for 1 day during the period from 1st June to 31 December, the<br />
day permit allows all kinds of fishing in the 1st category (1 line max.) and in 2nd category (4<br />
lines max.).<br />

Gardens<br />
The Clunisienne and clunisoise Rose Garden<br />
At the foot of the Round Tower, the Clunisienne and <strong>Clunisois</strong>e Rose Garden is a botanical<br />
conservatory with a wealth of 244 rare varieties, including the Resurrection rose and the Peace<br />
rose, created in homage to all those who were deported during the Second World War.<br />
