On Friday, 8th April, 2011, NDU North Campus <strong>in</strong> Koura welcomed seventy high school students of both sexes<br />

from fourteen different official and <strong>in</strong>dependent schools <strong>in</strong> the Northern Mohafazat (Governorate) for the<br />

New Literature Contest, tak<strong>in</strong>g place for the first time <strong>in</strong> the said campus.<br />

After the play<strong>in</strong>g of the National Anthem, North Campus Director Father Samir Ghsoub welcomed the<br />

participants, stress<strong>in</strong>g the role of the University <strong>in</strong> encourag<strong>in</strong>g young writers and develop<strong>in</strong>g their gifts,<br />

for they were to make up the Lebanon of the future. He was followed by the Coord<strong>in</strong>ator of the Faculty of<br />

Humanities Michael el-Hajj, who expla<strong>in</strong>ed that the contest <strong>in</strong>volved tell<strong>in</strong>g short stories on a subject <strong>in</strong> either<br />

Arabic, French or <strong>English</strong>, with a jury of known writers to announce the results on April 29th <strong>in</strong>st., <strong>in</strong> the<br />

presence of the directors of the schools tak<strong>in</strong>g part and the families of the students.<br />

The schools tak<strong>in</strong>g part were as follows:<br />

Tripoli: The College of the Sisters of the Most Holy Hearts (Très Sts-Cœurs), The National Orthodox School of<br />

Qabbeh, The National Orthodox School of El-M<strong>in</strong>a.<br />

Koura: The Brothers’, Daoud Karam Centre, Lighthouse (House of Light???) of Bikfateen.<br />

Zghorta: Zghorta Secondary, The Brothers’, the Carmelites’.<br />

Akkar: Halba Secondary, Orthodox College, Abdallah Rassy Lycée.<br />

Besharri: The Anton<strong>in</strong>e Fathers’.<br />

NLC’s first FAAD Exhibition, Grey<br />

On the 12th April, 2011, the Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design (FAAD), North Lebanon Campus (NLC),<br />

Barsa, El Koura, held its first annual students’ exhibition entitled Grey. The exhibition displayed the promis<strong>in</strong>g<br />

works of the architecture students (1st and 2nd year) and graphic design students (1st and 3rd year); it<br />

<strong>in</strong>cluded two-dimensional art and design work and three-dimensional design objects and architecture<br />

projects. Introductory speeches were delivered by the representatives of FAAD students, Ms. D<strong>in</strong>a Baroud,<br />

Coord<strong>in</strong>ator of FAAD-NLC, and Father Samir Ghsoub, Director of NDU-NLC. The exhibition was attended by<br />

the students’ parents, staff and faculty members from NDU and other universities.<br />
