All medication storage areas should be continually monitored. Storage temperatures and safe storage conditions should be documented by the facility. These records should be maintained at the facility for two years. All temperature monitoring equipment used should be NIST certified. All medications should be protected from freezing, excessive heat and humidity. All temperature excursions must be documented and immediately reported to Drug Room staff.
