All medication storage areas should be continually monitored. Storage temperatures and safe<br />

storage conditions should be documented by the facility. These records should be maintained<br />

at the facility for two years.<br />

All temperature monitoring equipment used should be NIST certified.<br />

All medications should be protected from freezing, excessive heat and humidity.<br />

All temperature excursions must be documented and immediately reported to Drug Room staff.<br />

Contact the Drug Room for instructions regarding the disposal <strong>of</strong> improperly stored medications.<br />
