Screening for persons with previously positive TST,
IGRA or completion of treatment for LTBI or active TB
Employees, physicians, and volunteers who have written documentation of a previous
positive TST result may be required to have a baseline chest x-ray at hire or provide
written documentation of a normal chest x-ray taken no more than 12 months prior to
hire. The chest x-ray will be repeated only if the employee develops signs or symptoms
of TB or when the attending physician decides a repeat chest x-ray is needed.
Screening is conducted, at least annually, via a TB symptom review questionnaire
instead of TST or IGRA for previously positive employees. If the symptom screen
reveals signs or symptoms of TB, the employee will be excluded from the workplace. A
new chest x-ray and physical assessment is then required. 26
