National Tuberculosis Program Objectives
and Performance Targets
Ensure timely laboratory reporting
a. National Objective: State public health labs will report 100% of results of
culture identification of M. tuberculosis complex to submitter and state TB
program within 21 days of receipt of specimen by 2015.
State Objective: Increase the proportion of culture-positive or nucleic
amplification test-positive TB case with a pleural or respiratory site of
disease that have the identification of M. tuberculosis complex reported by
the laboratory within 21 days from the date the initial diagnostic pleural or
pulmonary specimen was received to 85% by December 31, 2015.
b. National Objective: Increase the percentage of TB patients with initial
positive cultures who also are tested for and receive drug susceptibility
results to 100% by 2015.
State Objective: Increase the proportion of culture-positive TB cases with
initial drug-susceptibility results reported to 100% by December 31, 2015.
