<strong>and</strong> materiality. The answers to this question are contributions to Reformed language for <strong>the</strong> l<strong>in</strong>k<br />

between God <strong>and</strong> <strong>heal<strong>in</strong>g</strong>.<br />

Chapter n<strong>in</strong>e is an exploration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> concept <strong>of</strong> quality <strong>of</strong> life <strong>in</strong> relation to <strong>the</strong> doctr<strong>in</strong>e <strong>of</strong><br />

creation. A pneumatological view on creation <strong>and</strong> its vulnerability generates a redef<strong>in</strong>ition <strong>of</strong><br />

quality <strong>of</strong> life: <strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit reveals that quality <strong>of</strong> life means own<strong>in</strong>g one’s vulnerable life as<br />

life that belongs to God. One’s consent to be<strong>in</strong>g vulnerable also means that one becomes<br />

<strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Spirit’s mission <strong>of</strong> beautify<strong>in</strong>g creation. The pneumatological orientation with its<br />

redef<strong>in</strong>ition <strong>of</strong> vulnerability <strong>and</strong> beauty allows for Reformed language for <strong>the</strong> l<strong>in</strong>k between God<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>heal<strong>in</strong>g</strong>.<br />

Chapter ten is an exploration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> concept <strong>of</strong> power. In contrast to Pentecostal <strong>the</strong>ology, this<br />

concept is not well-developed <strong>in</strong> Reformed pneumatology. The exploration revolves around <strong>the</strong><br />

mean<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> div<strong>in</strong>e power <strong>in</strong> relation to <strong>heal<strong>in</strong>g</strong>. A pneumatological orientation shows that <strong>the</strong><br />

dialectics <strong>of</strong> cross <strong>and</strong> resurrection is embraced by <strong>the</strong> power <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Spirit, which implies a<br />

redef<strong>in</strong>ition <strong>of</strong> power. This redef<strong>in</strong>ition leads to suggestions for Reformed language for <strong>the</strong> l<strong>in</strong>k<br />

between God <strong>and</strong> <strong>heal<strong>in</strong>g</strong>.<br />

This study <strong>of</strong>fers an account <strong>of</strong> Spirit <strong>and</strong> <strong>heal<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> African context. It is meant as a<br />

response to <strong>the</strong> challenge posed to Reformed <strong>the</strong>ology by African Reformed believers like Grace<br />
