2.Achievements under Construction
(a) During the year 2008-09, Rs.700.00 Lakhs has been allocated for the Department of Higher
Education under capital sector. Out of the allocated budget , the Department has implemented
and successfully completed the following projects during 2008-09.
1.Construction of 2 Storied RCC building for boys hostel at Kohima Science College,Jotsoma –
out of the estimated cost of Rs.269.75 lakhs, an amount of Rs.260.00 lakhs had been released till
date and fund provision amounting to Rs.9.75 lakhs is made available during 2008-09. With the
availability of fund, the project have been successfully implemented and completed.
2.Construction of Kohima College building, Kohima- After taking over of the College with
effect from the 1 st February,2006,the Department has undertaken the construction of Kohima
College at the new site. Out of the original estimated cost of Rs.627.44 lakhs, an amount of
Rs.582.00 lakhs had been released and a provision of Rs.45.44 lakhs is made available during
2008-09. The project has been completed but owing to the Revised estimated cost of Rs.804.99
lakhs, the balance amount of Rs.177.55 lakhs will be spill over.
