Roll Call (Persky)
BOD Present: David Regelbrugge, Jeff Chennault, Jacob Persky, Anders
Abelmann, Salvatore Cali, John Davis, Frank Disori, Sheila Hall, Paul Klein,
Nancy McClellan, Mark Roberts, Kimberly Ruthe, Kurtis Salter, Rod Harvey.
Also Present: Michael Rosenow (LSRR); Fred Tremmel (member).
Meeting began 3:30 pm.
Treasurer’s Report (Chennault)
Budget
• Checking account balance: $17,226.43
• Savings account balance $30,331.17
• 2011-2012 P/L to date is +$2,365.55 as compared to 2010-2011 P/L of
$4,619.15.
• Projecting a minor budget shortfall because the Safety Conference only
brought in ~ $3,600 instead of the budgeted $6,000. Competition with
ASSE national conference in Chicago was a factor.
• Most membership fees have come in through AIHA National this year;
few people paying LS fees directly at events. This helps streamline
payment processing and is a good benefit of AIHA National.
• Schools need to make request for funds to LS to go to AIHce by tonight.
President’s Report (Regelbrugge)
Membership
• Membership renewals to date are down 60 people since last year.
Elections
• Jeff Chennault to be President-Elect (uncontested)
• Ruthe and Hall to seek renewal for BOD terms; Lang self-nominated to
run for BOD position. 1 spot remains open.
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
• Rosenow says creation of the LSRR position is driving the MOU and
LSRR is on the Local Section Council. Rosenow reports that AIHA
National “expects zero local sections to go rogue and be ‘sunsetted’.”
• M.Roberts doesn’t understand why the MOU is required legally and
inquires if it rescinds anything from the local section.
• Rosenow reports that the major add-on requirement is for development of
an annual plan.
• Rosenow mentions upcoming calls on Feb 24 and March 6 to discuss
MOU. Ruthe volunteers to represent Chicago LS on 2/24 call and
Regelbrugge to call-in on 3/6.
Upcoming Meetings
• March dinner meeting – CHMM group wants to hold a joint meeting on
the 22 nd ; expecting 40-60 attendees. Will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn
in Evanston. This is a joint venture outcome of the combined holiday
social networking event. Disori to send Persky meal options to list in
registration.
• April Meeting – Date was changed due to Arboretum conflict with initially
proposed date being Arbor Day. Hall has speakers lined up.
• Argonne Tour – Salter, Davis, Abelmann are in charge of speakers;
schedule to be finalized by end of March. Tour date to be May 18.

New Business
• Speaker gifts: Chennault is still working on getting new books.
Outreach Committee (Villegas)
• Chennault reports that Abe Villegas send out letter about stipend request.
Records Retention Task Force (Davis & Hall)
• Tabled to next meeting.
Strategic Planning Committee (Davis/Salter)
• Salter has created a draft strategic plan which calls for more joint effort
with CHMM and ASSE to increase meeting attendance.
• Suggests that there is a need to provide more benefits to LS
membership to drive an increase in membership (webinars)
• Could be potential conflict with AIHA national for online training
and challenges to overcome related to recording, quality of
program, costs, technical capatilibites
Chicagoland Safety & Health Conference
• Salter reports that Eugene is still looking for speakers
AIHce
• No interest from members about Rosenow proposed ride-share to
Indianapolis. Suggest use of LS Facebook page to facilitate ride-share
interest.
