Among the participants <strong>who</strong> disclosed, were some <strong>who</strong> disclosed <strong>to</strong> more than one person<br />

resulting in cases <strong>of</strong> multiple disclosure (Table 3). Two participants <strong>among</strong> those <strong>who</strong><br />

have not disclosed <strong>to</strong> current partner had disclosed <strong>to</strong> their deceased <strong>partners</strong>.<br />

I disclosed <strong>to</strong> my late husband the same day I was given my HIV test results.<br />

I was very devastated. [Female, 36 years, has a steady partner]<br />

Those <strong>who</strong> spoke <strong>to</strong> their extended family members attributed their disclosure <strong>to</strong> the<br />

support they had received.<br />

I talked <strong>to</strong> my aunt <strong>who</strong> was very helpful and <strong>who</strong> encouraged me not <strong>to</strong> worry<br />

but <strong>to</strong> adopt positive living and promised <strong>to</strong> help me <strong>to</strong> access appropriate<br />

treatment [Male,42 years old, married]<br />

Only one participant, a university student, refused <strong>to</strong> disclose <strong>to</strong> either his partner or any<br />

<strong>of</strong> his family members.<br />

I don’t want <strong>to</strong> disclose <strong>to</strong> any <strong>of</strong> my family members. Mummy pays my fees; I<br />

know it would devastate her. I cannot disclose now, may be in future<br />
