Dear Friends,
The faculty and students of Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy
are honored to be part of the annual Blakefest celebration by
providing this program book for the Loyola Dons vs. Severn
Admirals lacrosse game. We thank our brother Jesuit school
for giving us this unique opportunity.
Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy was founded in 1993 to address
a critical need for quality education for boys from low-income
families in Baltimore. Our tuition-free independent Jesuit school
for children in grades six through eight is changing the lives of
our students and their families. While only 54% of males graduate
from high school in Baltimore each year, more than 97% of our
graduates have received a high school diploma over our eighteenyear
history, and 88% of those graduates have gone on to
colleges and universities throughout the country.
Since Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy’s founding, there has been
a strong relationship between our school and Loyola Blakefield.
Students from both schools get to know each other through shared
experiences like performing community service together and
participating in field day activities. Our students share a special
bond in aspiring to be men for others.
We hope you will get to know more about our school from this program,
and would welcome you to visit the Academy to see for
yourself the great work of our students. In the meantime, we hope
you enjoy the game and activities of Blakefest with your family and
friends.
