SUBJECT: STAFF REPORT
Discussion with possible action to consider a second request for an
extension of Injury Leave with pay in accordance with 143.073 (b) of the
Texas Local Government Code for Police Lieutenant Jaime Ramon.

BACKGROUND:
12/18/2010 Lt. Jaime Ramon while at a traffic stop in his unit was rear ended by another vehicle,
resulting in a concussion, low back pain extending to leg and calf, L 4 and 5 degenerative disc
with annular tear.
12/20/2010 - placed off work until next follow-up on 12/24/10.
1/06/2011-1/07/2011 - placed on modified duty.
111 01201 1 -taken off of work until pending further evaluation.
311 11201 1-04/01 I201 1 - received physical therapy by Orthopedic Rehab & Sports Medicine
Center.
10/2612011 -undergoes surgery
11/14/2011 - continues with lower back pain and remains off work until next follow up on
12/2012011
2/16/12 - placed in physical therapy and work conditioning.
08/06/12 - Lt. Ramon is released modified duty for 8 hrs. a day until expired by ordinance.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funding is available in the 101 -231 0-521-1 1 10 personnel line item.
