COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
SUBJECT: MOTION
Authorize the City Manager to amend the existing $2,165,379.84 Construction
Engineering Phase Services and Project Management Contract with Dannenbaum
Engineering Co. - Laredo, LLC in the amount of $538,947.46, for a total of
$2,704,327.30, increase the time of the contract from 26 to 30 months and the
addition of one engineer for the new 20 MGD El Pico Water Treatment Plant in
northwest Laredo. Funding is available in the 2009 and 2010 Utility Water Bond.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
On March 24,2008 Council awarded an engineering services contract in the amount of
$7,693,812 for the design, bidding, and construction, of the new 20 MGD Northwest Laredo
Water Treatment Plant.
On April 6,2009, Council approved amending contract to the amount of $7,941,3 12.66 for
additional engineering services.
On September 9,2009 Council authorized Amendment No. 2 in the amount of $35,000.00 for
a total of $7,976,3 12.66 for the development of an Environmental Information Document as
requested by the Texas Water Development Board.
On September 7,2010 Council authorized Amendment No. 3 in the amount of $234,602.30
for a total of $8,210,914.96 to perform supplemental design work of a 12" wastewater line,
the design of a 12" water line, a Riverbank Road and park access.
On May 16,20 1 1, Council authorized a 26 month contract to perform Construction
Engineering Phase Services (Project Management) in the amount of $2,165,379.84.
BACKGROUND:
This contract is to perform the following;
1. Construction Engineering to include Shop Drawing Reviews, Project Site
Representation, Management and Coordination of day to day project considerations.
2. Project Completion and Final Acceptance to include Certificate of completion, and
"As Built Drawing Review".
3. Dannenbaum Engineers will employ three Professional Engineers, one Engineer, one
inspectors and one secretarylclerk as needed and indicated in Amendment
Supplemental No. 1
Original Contract: $2,165,379.84
Supplemental No. 1 $ 538,947.46
TOTAL $2,704,327.30
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding is available in the 2009 Utility Bond, Acct # 557-4187-538-
0376 & 557-4 192-538-4 192 (El Pico Water Treatment Plant).
