SUBJECT: MOTIONS
Ratifying City Managers acceptance of a grant in the amount of $269,500 from the
Railroad Commission of Texas's Alternative Fuel Fleet Pilot Program funded by the
Ilepartnlent of Energy (DOE) through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
(ARRA) for converting twenty five light duty pickup trucks to operate with a compressed
natural gas (CNG) bi f ~~el system.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: City Council approved the grant application as part of the budget
Brocess.
BACKGROUND:
In 2010, the City accepted a grant under the Transportation Energy Efficiency Alternative Fuels and
Technology stimulus grant prograin of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts under the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funded through the United States Department of Energy (DOE) in
the amount of $924,000.00 to upgrad the City's CNG fuel station at Public Works. The CNG station located
at 5710 Daugherty, Laredo, Texas 78401 was upgraded in 201 1 to fuel any light-duty trucks or buses. The
station is the only public fueling station in Laredo and capable of fueling the private light-duty CNG vehicles
as well as the city's existing thirty-six (36) light-duty trucks.
Recently City of Laredo applied for a grant to the Railroad Commission of Texas under the Texas
Alternative Fuel Pilot Program for converting 25 City vehicle to CNG and on October 1, 2012, the Rail Road
Commission approved the grant.
