COUNCIL COMMUNICATION DATE: SUBJECT: PUBLIC HEARING AND INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE 10/15/2012 INITIATED BY: Amending the City of Laredo Fiscal Year 2013 Capital Improvements Fund budget to appropriate revenues and expenditures in the amount of $2,846,994.00. Revenues are derived from a settlement received from Hanover Insurance Company. Expenditures will be appropriated as follows: $1,436,994.00 for the Northwest Community Center Project and $1,410,000.00 for the South Laredo Library Project Carlos R. Villarreal, City Manager PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: STAFF SOURCE: Horacio A. De Leon, Assistant City Manager Rosario C. Cabello. Finance Director City Council adopted the budget for fiscal year 20 13 on September 17,20 12 by Ordinance 20 12-0- 127. A public hearing and an introduction of this ordinance was held on October 15,20 12. BACKGROUND: On July 2, 2012, City Council approved settlement with Hanover Insurance Company as surety for Modern Construction for City's projects known as South Laredo Library and Northwest Community Center. The settlement was executed and funds have been received. Funding will be used for partially fund the completion of said projects. FINANCIAL: Capital Improvement Fund REVENUES: Reimbursement NW Community Ctr Reimbursement South Ldo Library EXPENDITURES: Northwest Community Center South Laredo Library Amended Original Proposed Budget Budpet Amendment FY 2011 COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Conduct Public Hearing and Introduce this ordinance.
