RESOLUTION 201 2-R-086 Authorizing City Manager to accept a grant in the amount of $25,004 from the Texas Department of Transportation for enforcement of Commercial Motor Vehicle Selective Traffic Enforcement Program. The City of Laredo will be required to provide a match in the amount of $25,650.72 for the program. The cost to fund the enforcement program will total $50,654.72. The grant period will begin October 01, 2012 and runs thru September 30, 2013. This grant is for overtime salaries. Whereas, there is available to the City of Laredo a grant entitled Comprehensive Selective Traffic Enforcement Program from the Texas Department of Transportation for Commercial Motor Vehicle Selective Traffic Enforcement Program which would pay for overtime salaries for off duty police officers for the performance of during October 1, 201 2 - September 30,201 3; and Whereas, the City Council finds that such acceptance should be made and will be beneficial to the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ClTY COUNCIL OF THE ClTY OF LAREDO THAT: Section 1: Authorizing City Manager to accept a grant in the amount of $25,004 from the Texas Department of Transportation for enforcement of Commercial Motor Vehicle Selective Traffic Enforcement Program. Said amount includes the original contract amount of $49,990 and an additional area at a cost of $40,340 for the pouring of concrete at the Max A. Mandel Municipal Golf Course. Funding is available in the 2008 CO. INITIATED BY: Carlos R. Villarreal, City Manager PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: City Management has authorized the emergency purchase of services for the completion of pavement at the Max Mandel Golf Course of the parking lot, club house and maintenance building. Initial informal bid requests were from the following vendors for 49,990 square feet: MB Construction @ $1 .OO / sf. = $49,990 Zertuche Construction @$1.50 / sf. = $74,850 Change order for 32,272 square feet: MB Construction @ $1.25 / sf. = $40,340 FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funds for this service are available : Account Number: 463-9853-535-9585 STAFF SOURCE: Horacio De Leon, Assistant City Manager COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Ratification of this action.
