DATE: 10 I 15 I 2012 COUNCIL COMMUNICATION SUBJECT: RESOLUTION 201 2-R-086 Authorizing City Manager to accept a grant in the amount of $25,004 from the Texas Department of Transportation for enforcement of Commercial Motor Vehicle Selective Traffic Enforcement Program. The City of Laredo will be required to provide a match in the amount of $25,650.72 for the program. The cost to fund the enforcement program will total $50,654.72. The grant period will begin October 01, 2012 and runs thru September 30, 201 3. This grant is for overtime salaries. INITIATED BY: STAFF SOURCE: Cynthia Collazo, City Manager Gilberto Navarro, Interim Chief of Police, PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Resolution to submit grant application was approved on February 21, 2012. ACTION PROPOSED: That this Resolution be passed and approved. BACKGROUND: The Texas Department of Transportation has made a grant entitled Comprehensive Selective Traffic Enforcement Program available to the Laredo Police Department. The grant will pay for overtime salaries for police officers for the enforcement of. Commercial Motor Vehicle Selective Traffic Enforcement Program. The grant period will begin October 01, 2012 and runs thru September 30, 2013. Public information materials will also be available under this grant. FINANCIAL: Texas Department of Transportation will be awarding the City $25,004 and the City's match will be $25,650.72 for a total of $25,650.72 to fund the program.
