UNIT 6: ADJECTIVES AND ADVERBS
This unit is focused on the uses of adjectives and adverbs. Most of the learning activities in this unit
include cloze, gap-fill, listening, writing and editing exercises, using structures related to adjectives and
adverbs. The following topics will be studied:
6.1. Adjectives and Adverbs
Here we will focus on the uses of adjectives and adverbs. Remember that adjectives describe or give
information about nouns, and adverbs describe or give information about verbs, adjectives, or other
adverbs.
It is important to read the information of the “Grammar in Context” section in your textbook. You will find
an ad for two apartments in a house. Do the activities “Before you Read” and “After you Read”. They will
help you understand this section.

Once you complete the exercise above, take a look at the “Grammar Presentation” section in your
textbook. Focus your attention on the words in bold letters and see in which part of the sentence they
are located. In addition, read the section “Grammar Notes” in which you will learn about the uses of
adjectives and adverbs.
In order to check your understanding of what you read in “Grammar Notes”, do the exercises in the
section “Focused Practice” in your textbook.
