1968 Gressitt & Szent-Ivany: Bibliography of New Guinea entomology 605
ADDENDA
The following additional references were assembled after the bibliography went to press.
These references have been included in the INDEX, preceded by an asterisk (*), if the author
is not listed in the main text, and otherwise followed by an asterisk. The Addenda include a
few corrections or additional annotations to references in the main text. Cross references refer
to the main bibliography, above, unless prefixed by Add., for ADDENDA. Some newly
emended names are proposed for the proper form cheesmanae, instead of cheesmani, for species
named after Miss Evelyn Cheesman.
There is some inconsistency in regard to inclusion of references to the Moluccas, which are
part of the same zoogeographical subregion as New Guinea. Coverage for the Moluccas is
not complete.
There are a number of general references which are more or less pertinent to the Papuan
area, which are not completely incorporated. Among these are "Insects of Samoa" (British
Museum, N. H.), " Insects of Micronesia ", "Marquesan Insects", " Insects of Guam " and other
series published by Bishop Museum, and "Insects of Hawaii" (Univ. of Hawaii Press). These,
and such series as "Fauna of India", "Fauna Buruana" (Treubia, 7, 8, etc. & Supplements), and
many works dealing with Southeast Asia and Australia will be helpful to students of the entomology
of the Papuan area.
During the stages of completion of this work, additional people have given us assistance.
Among these are Mrs Toshiko Kujo, Miss Alynne Loupe, Miss Linda Watts, Travis Richardson
and Nixon Wilson, at Bishop Museum. Special help was given by Miss Esther Laine at the
University of California, Berkeley, and by several librarians at the American Museum of Natural
History and at the Smithsonian Institution. In addition, important assistance has been
provided by J. van den Assem, S. Asahina, J. Bonne-Wepster, W. J. O. M. van Dijk, T. L. Fenner,
