1. Introducti<strong>on</strong><br />
There is a great demand to organize a measurement comparis<strong>on</strong> in HRA and HRB from<br />
some Nati<strong>on</strong>al Institute of Metrology in ASEAN countries and may be in some <str<strong>on</strong>g>APMP</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
members in order to establish the CMC of the participating Nati<strong>on</strong>al Metrological<br />
Institutes (NMI). In view of this, the Nati<strong>on</strong>al Institute of Metrology, Thailand (NIMT)<br />
has taken the initiative to be the pilot laboratory to organize the comparis<strong>on</strong>.<br />
Physikalish – Techniche Bundesansralt, Germany (PTB) has participated as an invited<br />
laboratory from EUROMET as they have a l<strong>on</strong>g experience and good reputati<strong>on</strong> in<br />
hardness measurements. In this comparis<strong>on</strong>, Standards and Calibrati<strong>on</strong> Laboratory<br />
(SCL), H<strong>on</strong>g K<strong>on</strong>g, Nati<strong>on</strong>al Physical Laboratory (NPLI), India, and Korea Research<br />
Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS), Korea have shown keen interest for<br />
participati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
The first objective of this comparis<strong>on</strong> is to determine the capability of the primary<br />
Rockwell hardness machine, including standard c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s, of each participant. The<br />
sec<strong>on</strong>d objective is to c<strong>on</strong>firm the calibrati<strong>on</strong> and measurement capability (CMC) of<br />
Rockwell hardness scale A and B measurement declared by the participants.<br />
