The comm<strong>and</strong>er, when information is received that indicates an officer warrants being dropped from<br />
the rolls of the <strong>Army</strong>, forwards such information through channels to CDR, HRC–Alex<strong>and</strong>ria<br />
(AHRC–OPD–A). Includes—<br />
a. A detailed statement (including documentary evidence) why the officer may be dropped from the<br />
<strong>Army</strong> rolls.<br />
b. When appropriate, a certified copy of the court order conviction or letter from the warden of the<br />
penitentiary or correctional institution verifying the officer’s confinement.<br />
Upon receipt of separation instructions, takes action to separate the officer. When separation is accomplished,<br />
forwards officer fingerprints to the FBI as required in AR 190–47, paragraph 5–2, <strong>and</strong> AR<br />
635–10, paragraph 3–15.<br />
Section IX<br />
Task: Process Dismissal of an <strong>Officer</strong> due to General Courts-Martial Proceedings<br />
5–17. Rules for processing dismissal of an officer due to general courts-martial proceedings<br />
a. An officer convicted <strong>and</strong> sentenced to dismissal as a result of GCM proceedings will be processed pending<br />
appellate review of such proceedings as follows:<br />
(1) An RA officer will be retained on AD until the appellate review is completed or placed on excess leave in<br />
accordance with AR 600–8–10.<br />
(2) An RC officer may be released from AD pending completion of the appellate review, under paragraphs 2–33 <strong>and</strong><br />
2–34, or placed on excess leave in accordance with AR 600–8–10 in lieu of REFRAD.<br />
b. The HRC will make the final determination regarding retention or separation. Separation instructions will be<br />
issued by HRC–Alex<strong>and</strong>ria (AHRC–OPD–A) to the appropriate PSC/MPD.<br />
5–18. Steps for processing dismissal of an officer due to general courts-martial proceedings<br />
The steps required for processing dismissal of an officer due to general courts-martial proceedings are as shown in<br />
table 5–8.<br />

The comm<strong>and</strong>er forwards to CDR, HRC–Alex<strong>and</strong>ria (AHRC–OPD–A), a report of an officer who meets<br />
the criteria in the above rule. The report will contain the following:<br />
a. <strong>Officer</strong>’s name, grade, social security number, branch, <strong>and</strong> organizational assignment.<br />
b. Alleged offense (includes all pertinent facts <strong>and</strong> circumstances).<br />
Upon receipt of separation instructions, separates the officer <strong>and</strong> forwards fingerprints to the FBI as required<br />
in AR 190–47, paragraph 10–2, <strong>and</strong> AR 635–10, paragraph 3–15.<br />
5–19. Voluntary requests for retiree recall without a break in Service<br />
A retired officer may voluntarily request to be ordered to AD. The Secretary of the <strong>Army</strong> or his designee (the ASA<br />
(M&R)), is the approval authority for voluntary requests for retiree recall. Approval of such requests is subject to the<br />
limitations of 10 USC 688, DODD 1352.1, <strong>and</strong> AR 601-10.<br />
a. Using the format provided in figure 5-3, an officer on AD who has a retirement date (pursuant to either voluntary<br />
or m<strong>and</strong>atory retirement) may request to be ordered to retiree recall status on the day following the officer’s retirement<br />
date. The request must be staffed through the officer’s chain of comm<strong>and</strong> (through at least a BG or equivalent officer)<br />

(DACH–PER); or the Director, SLD (DACS–SLD), as appropriate.<br />
b. All requests must be submitted at least nine months prior to the anticipated effective date to allow for timely<br />
processing through comm<strong>and</strong> channels, HRC–Alex<strong>and</strong>ria, HQDA <strong>Army</strong> G–1, <strong>and</strong> OTJAG (legal review) for final<br />
adjudication by ASA (M&RA).<br />
c. Requests must be accompanied by completed DA Form 160–R, retirement/last physical, security clearance<br />
verification, <strong>and</strong> specific paragraph <strong>and</strong> line number information reference MTOE/TDA.<br />
