On its land, Midi has designed a new<br />

building complex in Via Stalingrado (be-<br />

tween Via Aldo Moro and Piazza della<br />

Costituzione).<br />

Midi project details:<br />

12,800 square meters of office<br />

space<br />

a conference room of about 800<br />

square meters, seating 400<br />

two restaurants of 800 and 500<br />

square meters<br />

a bar of 400 square meters<br />

a shopping area of 700 square me-<br />

ters<br />

car-parking facilities of 23,500<br />

square meters, for about 720 vehi-<br />

cles<br />

a multi-story car-park on Via Stal-<br />

ingrado, opposite <strong>Unipol</strong> headquar-<br />

ters, for about 400 vehicles.<br />

This project is of enormous importance<br />

given the strategic location in the heart<br />

of the Fair District, the new gateway to<br />

the city centre.<br />

The most striking part of the project is a<br />

bridge-type building on Via Stalingrado,<br />

enhancing the idea of the gateway, up-<br />

grading the northern access.<br />

UNIFIMM<br />

SECTION IV – GROUP COMPANIES<br />

Since the nineties, Unifimm has owned<br />

land to the east of Bologna, close to the<br />

ring road, near the San Vitale turn-off<br />

in Via Terrapieno and Via Larga, next<br />

to the Pianeta Shopping Mall. Originally<br />

the land was intended for the traditional<br />

business activities of the company but<br />

subsequently the project was reconsid-<br />

ered in light of the property develop-<br />

ment opportunities and the decision of<br />

the City Authority to upgrade the area.<br />

The study of the environmental impact,<br />

carried out with City Authority design-<br />

ers and technicians, and considerations<br />

concerning the existing facilities in the<br />

area, led to the design of a complex in-<br />

cluding:<br />

7,400 square meters for a multiplex<br />

cinema (14 screens)<br />

4,700 square meters for restaurants<br />

and services<br />

7,200 square meters for a hotel<br />

11,900 square meters of office<br />

space<br />

30,000 square meters for car parks.<br />

This will be an important attraction for<br />

the city, with a different but comple-<br />

mentary function to the nearby Shop-<br />

ping Mall. The bureaucratic procedure<br />

began in 2000 and the project is due for<br />

forthcoming planning permission (with-<br />

in the year). Construction work will be-<br />

gin in the first half of 2004.<br />
