Line Coach<br />
l"rank G. "Bill" Belanich, line coach, has been<br />
playing with or assi t ing Herb E i ele sin c·e his<br />
early playing days at athedral Latin. He<br />
enter ed the niversity of Dayton in 1923 and<br />
went on to be<strong>com</strong>e one of the F lyers' a ll-time<br />
g reat tackle . He t urned to profe sional football<br />
a fter his gr aduation in 1927, 11laying wit h<br />
t he Dayton T riangles for the next three years.<br />
He returned to Dayton as a coach in 192 , but<br />
left f ootball in 1932 to enter pr ivate bu in ess.<br />
In 1943 he igned a a istant to E isele a t<br />
Cathedral Latin, and moved to the <strong>Carroll</strong><br />
campus in 1947, when Herb took over the head<br />
coaching r ein .<br />

Backfield Coach<br />
Dan N. Mo rmile, backfield coach, began hi<br />
foot ba ll career at Cleveland's Holy Name High<br />
choo l. He entered <strong>Carroll</strong> in 1934 and before<br />
long h ad e ta blis hed himself as one of the Blue<br />
and Go ld's all-time great on the g ridiron and<br />
hardwood. He returned to Holy Name after<br />
grad uation a as i tant t o Joe Gavin, now head<br />
coach at Dayton, and in 1947 took over the head<br />
coaching dutie when Gavin joined t he college<br />
ranks. His 1947 team napped Cathedral Latin'<br />
36-game winning treak with a 7-0 up et victor<br />
y. In 194-8, Mormile igned as Ca rroll hackfi<br />
eld coach and he has been t he g· uiding light<br />
fo r Blue Streak back for t he pa t t hree<br />
season .

Quiet dignity will mark the new $700,000 men's residence hall as conceived in the artist' ketch<br />
above. Of College Gothic tyle to conform with other university buildings, the three-story, fireproof<br />
hall will house 214 student . Other space will ac<strong>com</strong>modate faculty offices, an in fi rmary, postoffi<br />
ce, oratory, storage facilities and a receiving-shipping departmen t. Completion of t he ultramodern<br />
building will signal achievement of the fi rst goal in t he univer ity' current $6,000,000<br />
.development program. Still to be added are a second dormitory, buildings for Physics and the<br />
School of Business, Economics and Government, and a Fieldhouse, Football Stadium and Student<br />
Union.<br />

The Marine Drum and Bugle Corp , although often<br />
over hadowed by the world-famou .S. Marine Band,<br />
has been one of the nation' top military mu ical<br />
groups ince it wa fir t organized in 1775.<br />
Originally named the Drum and Fife Corp of the<br />
<strong>Marines</strong>, it wa later a b orbed by the Marine Band<br />
and came into being again in 1934 when the pre ent<br />
organization was formed to a ugmen t t he Band in<br />
formations, Pre idential inauguration , Bond Drive ,<br />
parade and rallie and festival of variou kinds.<br />
T he twenty-four mu ician who <strong>com</strong>prise the Corp<br />
are enlisted from civilian life or drawn from <strong>com</strong>ponent<br />
part of the Marine Corp . All of the member<br />
must attain a high degree of musical proficiency before<br />
they qualify, and the training in the theory and rudiments<br />
of their in trument continue after they are<br />
a signed to t he Drum and Bugle Corps.<br />
