Many organizations such as government agencies and financial institutions have stringent security requirements and only allow access to information based on the person’s need to know, or clearance level. Multilevel security is designed to prevent individuals from accessing unauthorized information and declassifying information. DB2 V8 is the first version of DB2 that supports multilevel security. For more information on multilevel security, see Chapter 4, “DB2 subsystem performance” on page 127 and the recent book, z/OS Multilevel Security and DB2 Row-level Security Revealed, SG24-6480. 2.8.2 DFSMShsm Fast Replication The DFSMShsm Fast Replication in z/OS 1.5 also provides a fast, easy to use backup and recovery solution specifically designed for DB2 V8. It is designed to allow fast, non-disruptive backups to be taken at appropriate events when there is minimum activity at the application level or when a fast point-in-time backup is desired.
