Young Investigator Award
The ESHG Young Investigator prizes are awarded for outstanding research by young scientists presented as a spoken
contribution at the conference. One prize will be awarded in memory of Dr. Isabelle Oberlé (1956-1991), for research on
genetics of mental retardation. Dr. Oberlé carried out in Strasbourg, from 1983 to her untimely death in 1991, key work on the
fragile X syndrome, that led to the identification of the expansion mutation (Oberlé et al. Science 1991, 252:1097-1102).
The Scientific Programme Committee has selected finalists for the young investigator awards based on the scores given
to abstracts. Their names are listed below. The Scientific Programme Comittee will judge finalists’ presentations during the
conference. Winners will be announced, and awards made in the closing ceremony on Tuesday, May 28, 2002.
