Lazcano, Uruguay, they were fairly common from February 5 to 8.<br />

At Potrerillos, Mendoza, a little flock was found at an elevation of<br />

6,000 feet on March 19, and others were noted lower, near the hotel,<br />

on March 21. They were seen at Tunuyan, Mendoza, March 27, and<br />

at Tapia, Tucuman, April 7 to 13.<br />

SPINUS EARBATUS (Molina)<br />

Fringilla barbata Molina, Sagg. Stor. Nat. Chili, 1782, p. 247. (Cliile.)<br />

A male from Concon, Chile, taken April 26, 1921, is supposedly<br />

typical of this species. Another shot at General E,oca, E.io Negro,<br />

November 24, 1920, is in a peculiar immature stage of plumage,<br />

though in breeding condition.<br />

Near General Roca, Rio Negro, these birds were seen in small<br />

numbers along irrigation ditches, where they were breeding. At<br />

Concon, Chile, small flocks of 25 or 30 were found <strong>si</strong>nging sweet<br />

medleys from the tops of trees standing in the open, or pas<strong>si</strong>ng with<br />

undulatinof flight to feed among bushes and weeds.
