one family’s health crisis results in Aiding
future healthcare Practitioners
pradip choksi is a respected biomedical engineer,
marathon runner and mountain climber who scaled
mt. whitney in one day—on two separate occasions.
but on may 15, 2004 his world was shattered when an
unfortunate accident devastated pradip’s speech, motor
skills and emotional well-being.
during a leisurely bike ride, pradip suffered a debilitating
head injury and, despite
wearing a helmet, was
in a coma for three
weeks. the man
who once climbed
mountains now
couldn’t crawl
from his hospital
bed, get dressed
or form simple
sentences. although
his condition was
extremely serious,
with the help of several
skilled doctors and
therapists, pradip
learned to walk
again and function at a level many thought not possible.
testament to pradip’s character, his spirit and drive to
achieve remained intact.
Mr. and Mrs. Choksi established the
Pradip and Rekha Choksi Occupational
Therapy Endowed Scholarship Fund as
a way to financially assist OT and PT
students at Samuel Merritt University.
