Habitat: locally common, terrestrial or lithophytic<br />

species of wet, shaded ravines in rainforests, often<br />

near streams or along rivers, at low to mid elevation.<br />

Material examined: BASSE TERRE: Bassin Bleu (M.<br />

J. M. Christenhusz, pers. observ.). Localities: BASSE<br />

TERRE: Deuxième Chute du Carbet (Vivant, 1987b;<br />

Fournet & Hoff, 1999).<br />

Note: Hemidictyum was previously placed in Woodsiaceae<br />

and Athyriaceae, but the molecular study by<br />

Schuettpelz & Pryer (2007) suggests that it is better<br />

placed here.<br />

THELYPTERIDACEAE<br />

Note: This family is mostly treated as consisting of<br />

5–30 genera. The placement of species strongly<br />

depends on the generic classification, which need revision.<br />

In this treatment I have followed Smith et al.<br />
