Habitat: a rare lithophytic species, usually on humid<br />

wet limestone boulders and cliffs in forest.<br />

Localities: GRAND TERRE: near Gosier (Vivant,<br />

1987b); Cocoyer (M. J. M. Christenhusz, pers.<br />

observ.). MARIE GALANTE (Baksh-Comeau, 2000).<br />

Note: This taxon is treated here at a subspecific level,<br />

because it is geographically isolated (Barbados,<br />

Trinidad, Marie Galante and Guadeloupe); the typical<br />

variety occurs in the Greater Antilles (type from<br />

Haiti), Central America and northern South America.<br />
