Plumier (1705) was treated as lectotype by Proctor<br />

(1985), but the Schelpe choice is the earliest explicit<br />

lectotypification of this species (Jarvis, 2007).<br />

Habitat: rare in margins of mangrove swamps, sometimes<br />

cultivated (Domaine de Valombreuse; M. J. M.<br />

Christenhusz, pers. observ.).<br />

Habitat: terrestrial fern on stony ground in thickets,<br />

on paths and in dry forests.<br />

Blondeau (Vivant, 1987b); GRAND TERRE: Gosier,<br />

near Mathurin (Vivant, 1987b).<br />

Neotype (designated by Proctor, 1977): Guadeloupe,<br />

Proctor 20110 (A, isoneotype US). No specimen<br />

exists in the Lamarck herbarium and cited illustrations<br />

are other species. Proctor (1977) designated<br />

the neotype to pertain to the traditional<br />

application of the name.<br />

Habitat: common terrestrial fern on banks, thickets,<br />

pasture borders, in moist shade, often on slightly<br />

disturbed soil. The species is also cultivated as a<br />

garden plant and may naturalize.<br />

Lézarde at Vernou (Vivant, 1988).<br />

Habitat: uncommon species terrestrial in ravines and<br />
