In Turkey natural gas reserves and productions are very small, so, the majority of natural gas<br />

is imported from abroad. Due to natural gas crisis in the world and seasonal consumption<br />

differences, the construct of underground natural gas storage tanks has become mandatory.<br />

In order to increase the energy security of the country, K.Marmara and Degirmenkoy mature<br />

natural gas field were evaluated by TPAO and Turkey’s first underground gas storage tanks were<br />

built and started to be used for storage in April of 2007 In this study, borders of Değirmenköy<br />

(Soğucak) Field was determined by using new 3D seismic studies and the creation of 3D geological<br />

model which form the basis of simulation work which will guide the capacity increase study was<br />

explained.<br />
