Cambridge Pre-U Teacher Guide
In addition to the composition and the arrangement, candidates must submit a commentary on both
pieces. The intention of this requirement is that the commentary should act as a focus for considered
reflection on the processes of composing, arranging and using technology, that is individual to each
candidate and to each piece, based on the framework given in the Syllabus. This framework is similar
to that given for Component 43 because of the intentional overlap between the two components.
Candidates may find it helpful to approach the framework with a number of questions in mind about
each heading. Examples are given under Component 43 (see above) and it is therefore unnecessary
to repeat them here. Some adaptation will inevitably be required to suit the rather different
requirements of Component 44, especially with regard to the use of technology, but this is a simple
matter which candidates and teachers will have no difficulty in managing without further help.
