KINETIC THERAPY IN OSTEOPOROSIS
Atarowska M., Samborski W., Sobieska M., Gajewska E.
Clinical Departament of Physiotherapy, Rheumatology i Rehabilitation, Poznań, Poland
Keywords: ostheoporosis, kinetic therapy, physical activity, exercises, body mass, muscle strengh
The ballasting actions are the most important exogenous factor influencing the development and proper structure of the
bone. The lack of this factor causes no mechanical tension in the bone and no muscles opposition against gravitation.
Another factor associated with low activity that favors ostheoporosis is long lasting immobilization (local, general,
caused by other diseases). Even though we don’t have unambiguous proves physical activity brings measurable
advantages such as increase of the bone mass and improvement of muscle strength, as well as better feeling and general
condition. By analogy the consequence of immobilization is decrease of the bone mass, which can be prevented by
everyday mobilization.
The aim of kinetic therapy is an improvement or keeping of an optimal state: the structure of the bone, muscle function,
coordination and the range of the movement of joints as well as the influence on cardio-pulmonary system. Exercises
both individual and in the group, body posture correcting, body posture co-ordinating, resistance exercises, exercises in
relieve and respiratory exercises allow to achieve these aims
